Getting Lucky

Here’s my latest release called Getting Lucky. It was first published by Evernight Publishing in 2013.

It was one of my favorite stories to write because Megan and Andy are both broken characters who are down on their luck but things are about to change. It’s actually their sudden change in fortune that brings them into one another’s lives.

It’s a story about finding hope, recovering from past demons, falling in love, and yes, getting lucky too.

If you didn’t check it out in 2013, I’d love for you to do so now because like I said, it really is one of my favorite stories. I know it will tug on your heart strings and you’ll be cheering for these two people throughout the story.

Getting Lucky1

Do you feel lucky today?

Megan Scott changed her name and escaped to Seattle, hoping to put her past and her abusive ex behind her. Her sister told her bad luck couldn’t last forever, and with that in mind she purchased a ticket hoping to be one of the ten people to win a key that would open the door to a dream home.

Andy Hill is starting life anew. He lost his family and home but feels deep down that bad luck has to end sometime.

When a mix up with the winning keys puts Megan and Andy in a situation they never thought they’d find themselves in, Megan has to put her trust in a man again, and Andy has to accept that there’s no going back and fixing bad mistakes.

Learning to move on in life is sometimes a hard lesson but it’s also a chance to get lucky.

Here’s an excerpt…

Megan’s legs shook so much that by the time she arrived at the house she didn’t think she’d be able to get out of her car, let alone walk up to the check-in desk. Floodlights had been turned on and a beam of light played against the house’s shiny black front door. She fingered the key. She had a one in ten chance that in less than an hour the house would be hers.

Here goes.

She made her way across the street and up the path to the desk where a young man in his early twenties sat with sheets of paper in front of him.

“Hi, my name’s Megan Scott.”

“Hello Megan, if you could sign here next to your name and then wait over there with the other contestants,” he said, pulling out a sheet of paper for her. She quickly signed before her hand shook again, and then walked over to the lawn where two older men, one on a walker, three women, all older than her, and a girl about twenty, blowing bubble gum, stood in a line. She smiled but no one smiled back. No one was talking either. Instead they eyed one another cautiously which made her legs tremble even more.

She fingered her key again as two more people joined the group, and then a man probably a bit older than herself walked toward them. She’d seen him before but couldn’t think where. Maybe he’d visited the museum, but she knew it was someplace else. He smiled at her, she smiled back. Now she remembered. He’d been the idiot driving the car that had almost hit her. He stood beside her and they glanced at one another and then looked away. The scent of his aftershave drifted her way as the wind picked up. She didn’t think she’d ever like the smell of cologne again, because Ted had almost bathed in the stuff, but this man’s brand was different, and was more subtle and spicy. She shifted her feet, wishing the contest would soon be over and she’d know either way whether she was a homeowner.

Megan glanced at the man again. That had been stupid because he was looking her way. They didn’t say anything but both coughed before quickly looking away. When he’d been driving, she’d focused more on trying not to hit his car, but now that all her attention was solely on him, she realized that he was cute and had gorgeous blue eyes.

She hadn’t checked out a man in so much detail, and for this long, since she’d first laid eyes on Ted. Maybe it was her nerves and she was using it as a way to take her mind off the whole thing.

Maybe.

Just in Time for Halloween-Fly by Night

I am JaneFive years ago I was honored to have a short story included in Just Vamps an anthology published by Evernight Publishing.  As the names suggests, all the stories were about vampires.

I just got rights back to this story and in time for Halloween, I’ve revamped it (yes please excuse the pun), and added another chapter.

I’ve kept the title, Fly by Night and it’s a sexy tale set during the Regency featuring innocent Isabella and the man of the night, James who offers her so much more than a evening of erotic delight.

It’s available at Amazon and costs just 99 cents. Hope you’ll enjoy it.

Two Re-Released Titles

confession of loveart innatureI’m getting rights back to many of my stories and slowly revamping and re-releasing them.

Here are two that I released this week. One is book three in the Perfect Pairings series and the other one is a former Romance on the Go title, Confession of Love. Both have  have been re-edited,  given new covers and both are on sale for 99 cents. Both are available through KDP Select at Amazon which means if you have Kindle Unlimited you can read them for free.

Hope you enjoy these two stories.

Happy New Year and News To Share

I hope you all had a wonderful holiday season and a happy 2017 to everyone.

I took a few weeks to recharge as this year is going to be a busy one.

I’m teaching at least two workshops every month which will be a first for me. I’ll also be trying to get my new coaching and critiquing business up and running and exploring new platforms on which to teach.

Bookwise, I hope to release at least one new title and one revamped title each and every month. I get rights back to about a dozen of my titles with Evernight Publishing and one from Total E-Bound all of which I either plan to rewrite and release as stand alone books or rewrite to fit into one of my current series.

Speaking of which, I’ll be debuting a new series very soon…it’s one of my current WIPs and that’s Cowbear Haven where I’m combing my love of cowboys and bear shifters together.

My next release will be later this month and is titled Erotic Bedtime Stories which is an anthology of some revamped older titles and I’m thinking about adding a brand new one too. Here’s a sneak peek of the cover.

You’ve probably heard about the closing of All Romance E Books which was actually one of my best markets for sales so if any of you purchased books from the site and are now wondering where to buy my titles, you’ll find them at most online book stores, including Amazon, Barnes and Noble, Kobo, and also check them out at Smashwords too.

I’ll be giving the site a major overhaul soon and considering adding some more features for both readers and writers so please let me know what you’d like to see. Are you a writer who’d like tips about breaking into the publishing business? Or are you a reader who’d like to know more about what I’m working on and my writing process?

Don’t be shy and leave a comment because I’d love your input.

News, News and More News

howtowritearomanceaudio

One of my goals for the year was to start turning my books into audio format. I thought I’d take the plunge with one of my non-fiction books and How to Write a Romance Novel is now on sale at audible.com. The good news is I have a free copy to giveaway. Rules are simple just leave a comment telling me why you’d like a copy and I’ll pick the best one. Contest closes on Monday October 24th at Midnight Eastern. (and I’ll have more copies to give away very soon, plus a bunch of other goodies in my upcoming holiday giveaway). And beginning next year all my erotic romances and erotica will be turned into audio books too.

Second piece of news is, many of you know I teach and tutor and I decided to launch my own coaching business helping aspiring writers achieve their dream. The business was launched today and here’s the URL for the site if anyone’s interested http://www.novelworkshops.online.

I also want to thank all of you for following along with my posts, reading and buying my books and leaving the wonderful reviews that you do. You make sitting down to write each day so worth it-THANK YOU!

New Western Erotic Romance Series

callumcowboytough

It’s been some time since I’ve written a story featuring a cowboy so my latest release is Callum which is book one in my new Western Erotic Romance series titled Cowboy Tough.

Here’s a brief overview of the series and this story plus a short excerpt.

I hope you enjoy reading it as much as I did writing it.

Welcome to my new Western series, Cowboy Tough, the handsome and sexy guys who round up cattle, ride in rodeos, uphold law and order or maybe get themselves in the odd fight or two. However, they all have one thing in common; they’re lovable guys hiding under one tough and kiss ass exterior and whether they know it or not, highly vulnerable when they meet the right woman…

Olivia Simpson thought she’d left hurt and violence behind but when she ends up with a bullet in her shoulder it brings back fear and pain into her life.

Callum Monroe was looking for a place to enjoy a beer on a Saturday night when he saw a crowd gathering outside of the women’s shelter where his sister volunteers. It’s there he zeroes in on a woman who’s hurt and for some reasons, he’s immediately drawn to her and doesn’t leave her side.

Olivia believes Callum has an ulterior motive for hanging around but she’s not interested in him or any other man.

Can this sexy cowboy convince Olivia that he’s just what she needs to heal the pain and sadness of her past life?

 Excerpt-

“Sorry, pretend you didn’t hear that,” he said. Had he gone red in the face? Another first for him.

“It’s okay. I’m guessing something made you say it.”

“Yeah, got a sliver in my palm about an hour ago. I thought I’d pulled it out but now every time I touch something it hurts like crazy.”

“You want me to take a look for you?” Olivia asked him.

The thought of her playing nurse excited him. He grew hard just thinking about her hands on him. It was almost worth getting the sliver.

“That would be great,” Callum said. More than great, more like fantastic.

“Do you have a flashlight?” Olivia asked.

“I sure do.”

Callum rummaged through his toolbox and pulled out a small green one. He handed it to Olivia.

“Let me take a look,” she said.

He offered her his palm and she focused the beam on his hand.

“It feels like it’s in the fleshy part,” Callum said.

“Yep, I think I can see just a little piece of wood sticking out from your skin by your thumb.”

She gently rubbed it and oh yeah, that was it but he didn’t make sound because he didn’t want her to think he was whippy or anything like that.

“I have my eyebrow tweezers in my purse and I’ll have that out in no time.”

She dug through her bag and pulled them out. “If you could hold the flashlight with your other hand and focus the beam it will be easier for me,” she said.

Callum took it from her and kept the light steady as best he could. She held his hand and soon the sliver was history.

“How much do I owe you?” Callum asked her while looking her straight in the eye. Those beautiful eyes that had clearly seen pain and hurt and he was going to put laughter and pleasure back into them.

“It’s on the house,” Olivia said.

He leaned toward her, knowing full well he was going to kiss her again. Was he a fool or what? Getting himself all worked up again but he couldn’t resist those sweet lips of hers.

He put his arm around hers this time, pulling her in close, hoping she’d feel his excitement for her. She didn’t protest and to his surprise she let her body melt into his. He kissed her, this time with more urgency than the night before. Callum sensed some resistance on her part but she still let him hold her. The next move he knew was a brave one because he didn’t want to scare her but he tickled her lower lip with his tongue, allowing it to flutter a while before slipping it into her mouth.

She still didn’t protest and hadn’t pushed him away.

This wasn’t the place to have their first sexual encounter. Debris, dust, and nowhere nice to lay her down and bring pleasure to her body. They both pulled away at the same, almost as if they were thinking the same thing. This wasn’t the place.

“You want me to give you a riding lesson?”

His brain and mouth were out of sync lately. Why had he asked her such a question right now?

She knitted her eyebrows together like she knew it was dumb too. Or maybe…

“I mean on a horse,” Callum quickly added.

Olivia burst out laughing. He hadn’t seen her in such a happy mood before and he was glad his faux pas had caused it.

“I knew what you meant but it’s still funny that you quickly added the word horse?”

“Well do you?” he asked.
