Saturday Night Blues

I’m trying my best to play catch up with all the books I’m getting rights back to because I want to give some of them a major overhaul. It’s taking time away from my new stories so I hope you’ll bear with me.

Here’s one I re-released last week. It’s Saturday Night Blues (first published by Evernight Publishing in 2013), and it’s now told from a dual first person perspective.

Hope you enjoy the updated version…

What’s a girl to do when she’s single and it’s Valentine’s Day?

If you’re Natasha Hargreaves you babysit your nephew. However, not all is lost when a mishap with a large vase lands her in the ER with an overworked but very sexy, Dr. David Walker.

David’s not usually a doctor to fall for a patient but there’s something about Natasha that makes his heart beat faster and forces him to break the rules about asking her out.

Are they a match made in heaven and will Natasha be able to handle a doctor’s unsociable hours of work?

A Cowboy’s Heart and What I’ve Been Doing

ACowboysHeart

More than a few people have been asking me about when I’ll be writing and publishing new stories, what’s happening with our beloved Kalispell Shifters…believe me there’s lots planned and coming soon.

Last year I decided to add the name of writing coach and mentor to my list of skills and long story short, setting up the business has taken me longer than I’d planned. Plus, I’ve been trying to play catch up releasing all the stories I got rights back to.  I thought I’d get back to my regular writing schedule after the new year but I then I updated my other web site and finally came down with the cold bug that seems everyone’s got which zapped a lot of my energy.

Well, enough with the excuses…I did re-release A Cowboy’s Heart (formely titled This Cowboy’s Heart), and I have two more stories to re-release this month.

I plan to add a new story in all my series and yes, I’m even thinking about a new one too.

So thank you for being patient with me loyal fans. I promise to post more stuff here too so if you have any writing related questions or anything you’d like to see, just leave a comment or contact me at vanessadevereaux@gmail.com. You know how much I love hearing from you.

Take care-Vanessa D XO

Happy Holidays

2017 is slowly coming to a close and I’d like to thank you for following my blog posts and buying my books.

I had planned to write and release more books than I actually did but as many of you know I started a new venture…coaching and mentoring aspiring authors, and that took up a lot of my time and energy.

In 2018, I get rights back to 15 of my books so I’ll be publishing those again, revamping most of them too. I also have ideas for a couple of new series and will be adding to my already established series so stay tuned.

I’m taking a break until January 2nd and hope to post often and stay more connected with all of you next year.

Here’s wishing you and yours the happiest of holiday seasons.

See you in 2018.

Three Upcoming Revamped Stories for the Holiday Season

The holidays are fast approaching and I’m currently revamping three back titles that should be released in the weeks leading up to Christmas.

I thought I’d share the covers with you here and I’ll let you know when each one is added to the book sites-

Just in Time for Halloween-Fly by Night

I am JaneFive years ago I was honored to have a short story included in Just Vamps an anthology published by Evernight Publishing.  As the names suggests, all the stories were about vampires.

I just got rights back to this story and in time for Halloween, I’ve revamped it (yes please excuse the pun), and added another chapter.

I’ve kept the title, Fly by Night and it’s a sexy tale set during the Regency featuring innocent Isabella and the man of the night, James who offers her so much more than a evening of erotic delight.

It’s available at Amazon and costs just 99 cents. Hope you’ll enjoy it.

Two Re-Released Titles

confession of loveart innatureI’m getting rights back to many of my stories and slowly revamping and re-releasing them.

Here are two that I released this week. One is book three in the Perfect Pairings series and the other one is a former Romance on the Go title, Confession of Love. Both have  have been re-edited,  given new covers and both are on sale for 99 cents. Both are available through KDP Select at Amazon which means if you have Kindle Unlimited you can read them for free.

Hope you enjoy these two stories.

Stories I’m Working On….

I know it’s been a long time since I’ve posted on this site…and a while since I’ve released a new story. I’ve been busy with teaching writing workshops and also launching my own writing coaching and mentoring business (if you’d like to know more about that head over to http://www.susanpalmquist.com). I’ve been trying to keep up with re-releasing back titles…three coming in October and I’m also writing a TV pilot. So with all that going on you can imagine I’ve not had much time (or energy) to write new Vanessa Devereaux stories but I promise I will and very soon.

I might not have new stories this year but I will in 2018. I have an idea for a new erotica/erotic romance series set in the Old West which I’m excited about.Rose-petal with notebook.

I’m also planning to revamp this site and have some giveaways over the holidays. So please stay with me and I’d love to hear what sort of stories you’d like to see me tackle in 2018. Do you like erotica, historical erotica or are you a die hard bear shifter fan?

Filthy Rich and Sexy

Vanessa Devereaux

My latest release is book one in my new series Filthy Rich and Sexy.

They’ll be super short stories (around 5,000 words), focusing on rich and sexy men and the women they love.

The first story first appeared in Keyboards and Kink that was published by Evernight.

Here’s the synopsis and an excerpt-

CEO Ian Corbett’s always had a thing for one of his employees but he knows the rules because he wrote them.

No dating or messing around with anyone in the company.

However, when he sees she’s been using a company computer and on company time to run an online sex chat business, he knows he has just cause to fire her.

Now as ex-employee he’ll be free to ask her out. All he has to do is ask her to come see in his office so he can break the news to her or can he. Will she get the upper hand and will he have to change the rules?

Excerpt-

Jenny sat down and threw the box containing the nuked hotdog on her desk. She’d seen the employee handbook. She knew the rules. No using company time or equipment for outside pursuits.

Now she was going to lose both her jobs. Maybe she could sweet talk him into looking the other way.

She ran her hands through her hair. She hadn’t seen him…well, not face-to-face, since he’d interviewed her last year. She almost hadn’t gotten the job because she’d been so tongue-tied. Not that she was a nervous interviewee but she hadn’t expected him to be so gorgeous. Six feet plus, broad shoulders, dark hair with a bit of a wave to it. During her entire interview she’d had an image of running her fingers through it as he kissed her. And those eyes. He’d looked straight at her every time he’d asked her a question. Dark green with touches of hazel. Mesmerizing and they’d held her spellbound.

She jumped when her phone rang.

Who knew she was here working late besides the janitor and…

She picked it up.

“Hello.”

“Ms. Rasley?”

She swallowed twice in quick succession.

It’s him.

“Yes.”

“Did you get my note? Obviously you did because you’re back at your desk.”

“Yes, and yes, I was just about to head up to your office.”

“Good, I’ll be waiting.”

Jenny looked at her plant, the mug housing her pens, and the award for employee of the month. Maybe she should take them with her because she’d be fired and he might not let her come back to her desk. No, surely he’d let her get her things. She turned off the computer. Sexy Beast would have to find some other girl to chat to tonight. She stood and grabbed her raincoat and put it on before slinging her purse over her shoulder.

She nodded to the janitor again as she tiptoed over the wet floor to reach the elevator.

Her stomach churned as she watched the floors flash by. Jobs were hard to come by these days, and who was to say if she’d find another one she liked as much as this one. She’d do anything to keep it. She’d made up her mind that whatever he asked her to do to make up for this failure to follow the rules she’d do rather than be fired.

Jenny stepped out of the elevator.

That was it.

Sexual favors. No man could resist them.

Wade-Big Sky Lawmen Book 2

My latest release is book 2 in my Big Sky Lawmen series.

I recently got back rights to Last First Kiss and thought a revamped version would be a perfect fit for this series. So it’s now called Wade and is available at Amazon through their KDP Select program so if you have Kindle Unlimited it will be a free read.

Here’s the synopsis and an excerpt-

Wade Linley never thought he’d live to see the day when he’d receive a frantic call from Emily Richardson asking him to drive out to the Mountain View B and B because she was about to be arrested for first degree murder. However, the evidence is overwhelming. Now she’s on her way to jail and has only one request—for Wade to phone call her granddaughter, Sophie, and ask her to come home. Wade knows having her back in town means nothing but trouble for his heart.

Sophie can’t believe it’s Wade’s voice on the other end of the line and that her grandmother has been arrested for murder. Going home is a must but things would be a lot easier if Wade wasn’t there. After all, she did break his heart eight years ago. Together, can these once childhood sweethearts clear Emily’s name and put their differences aside while rediscovering their love for one another?

Excerpt-

Sophie leaned closer to the mirror and swirled some lip gloss over her lips before smacking them together. She stepped back, taking a comb and running it through her hair. It looked a mess from sitting in that cramped seat for so long. She rummaged through her bag and found an elastic band. She quickly pulled her hair back and secured it into a ponytail. Sophie picked up her bag from the countertop, made a mad dash for the door, and headed for the baggage claim where she hoped Wade would be waiting to drive her to Glacier Valley.

Her heart beat faster with each step she took anticipating what he’d look like. What they’d say and also what they’d talk about on the journey home. A group of older women obscured her view of the baggage claim area, but as they parted ways she could a glimpse of a man holding his cowboy hat in both hands while leaning against a wall in the car rental area. He was standing in profile, but she knew it was Wade. She’d recognize that fine looking bone structure anywhere. Time hadn’t changed or taken it away. She stopped walking, wondering if she could actually face him again.

However, she had to for her grandmother. And after all, he’d driven all this way to collect her.

She took a deep breath, willing her feet to start moving again. The closer she got, the more her heart picked up speed. It pounded in her ears, almost deafening her. He turned her way but hadn’t noticed her quite yet because he seemed to be looking at the carousel that had just started up.

Yes, he was a mature grown man now. His shoulders were wider, and he’d bulked up in a good way. He’d suddenly caught sight of her and mouthed her name.

Sophie’s heart missed a beat as she ran at top speed toward him, and he ran toward her.

When they met she put her hand out to shake his, thinking that was the safest thing to do. However, when he failed to accept it, and instead pulled her in close, she knew she was in love with him all over again. She wondered if he felt the same way, too.

Would that be stupid of us or romantic?

“Sophie, it’s so great to see you. You look really good.” They pulled away.

“You do, too.”

Now that they’d got past the hugging stage she thought about giving him a kiss on the cheek for old times, but he made the first move and kissed her lips instead.

She closed her eyes. How long had it been since they’d kissed? Seemed like eternity. Sophie thought it would be just a quick peck. She wasn’t expecting anything more, but Wade’s lips lingered on hers.

Sophie had always loved the way he kissed. No other guy, including her ex-husband, had kissed quite like Wade. He was the first boy she’d ever kissed, and it had been the summer of her sixteenth birthday. Yes, they’d kissed before, play sort of ones, quick ones where their lips smacked together for a few seconds. But on that birthday things had gotten more serious, and the kiss had been longer; mouths had opened, and eager tongues had slipped beyond their lips. When they’d finally pulled away Wade had said something she still remembered to this very day.

“You’re going to be my only girlfriend, and I’ll be your only boyfriend, so we won’t have any other first kisses, which officially makes that our last first kiss.”
